and Mastery of Pays de la Loire 4 July – Exceptional meetings and conferences
17h30: Meeting/conference avec l’astrophysicien Patrick Michel et le biologiste Abdel Aouacheria
Duration: 1 hour 15
Stardust and dust of Life : The eternal dance of creative death
What if death was the best invention in the Universe (after coffee) ?
In this exceptional meeting, astrophysicist Patrick Michel and biologist Abdel Aouacheria exchange views on the “phoenix paradox” : how death gives rise to the living. But where does this living thing begin and where does it stop? ? Through other paradoxes and confusing examples, they will explore the tenuous border between the inert and the animated. While transhumanism dreams of abolishing death, science asks us even more dizzying questions : what would a world without death be like, otherwise a frozen world, deprived of renewal ? And if the Earth itself, like our lives, has a limited horizon, isn’t this finitude precisely what makes life so precious?? Is death really the end?, or the condition of any metamorphosis ?
This meeting will be followed by a signing session of their most recent works in partnership with the bookstore. The upcoming book.
