Former student of the École Normale Supérieure of Lyon, doctor in biochemistry, cellular and evolutionary biologist, Abdel Aouacheria is Researcher at CNRS, Ability to Direct Research, attached to the Biodiversity Department, Health, Society of the Institute of Evolutionary Sciences of Montpellier. Author of numerous publications on the control of cell life and death, In the wake of the work of Jean-Claude Ameisen, he is interested in new representations of life sparked by contemporary biology, and the way in which they allow us to think about other sectors of human activity (artistic, policy, social…) in a trandisciplinarity approach. Abdel Aouacheria is a member of several learned societies and various scientific councils, and actively works to share knowledge through various mediation actions, in synergy with the challenges of disseminating culture to the general public. He co-founded with the philosopher and sociologist Edgar Morin the Reliance Chair in Complexity, backed by the Foundation of the University of Montpellier, as well as its UNESCO Chair dedicated to the promotion of complex thinking in the world.
