Purcell and Italy
PRESENTATION
Assisted by Patricia Petibon and Jean-François Novelli, Amarillis arbitrates a tasty dialogue between Purcell and Italy. Constructed in the spirit of a program to be listened to as a whole, Love & Masquerade combines the descriptive verve of the English mask, the elegiac beauty of Purcell's lamentations, the lush inventiveness of the cantata of Mancini and the songs by Frescobaldi. This recording is the second of the young female trio, who signs, here again, his crush with a master stroke.
