Born in Australia, Eleanor Lewis studies cello at the Sydney Conservatorium and the University of Sydney. She obtained a Bachelor of Music (1st Class Honours) as well as a Master of Music
( Before leaving his native country, Eleanor has performed with several renowned ensembles, dont Coruscations (contemporary music ensemble), The Renaissance Players, the Sydney Chamber Orchestra ainsi que le Tasmanian Symphony Orchestra et le Tasmanian Symphony Chamber Players. She also designed, developed and presented an annual concert of contemporary Australian cello music for eight years. Attracted by old music, she perfected the viola da gamba at the CNSMD in Lyon in Marianne Muller's class, leaving 2005 with a first prize. In parallel, she continues her studies of baroque cello. In France, Eleanor Lewis has performed with various ensembles, such as the Devil in Music, Sweet Memory, the Celadon Set, Stradivaria, Amarillis… She has participated in numerous festivals, including Musica in Strasbourg, Divine Music, Musical Treats, Fugue in Aude Romane, Savoie Musical Meetings and the Lyon Early Music Festival. Eleanor participates in several programs both on ancient instruments and with her “modern” cello., and notably recorded a CD of viola da gamba duets, Rose and Lily (The garden). She teaches viola da gamba and baroque cello at the Regional Conservatory of Angers and regularly gives lessons at the Regional Conservatory of Tours..
In June 2024 releases the Amarillis record Game ladies (Evidence Classics) on which she recorded two pieces at the invitation of Héloïse Gaillard.
